It is extremely important to take proper post-operative care after surgical extraction of tooth. Following instructions and oral hygiene routine can minimize post -operative pain and swelling and general discomfort.
After 30 mins of Teeth Extraction Procedure:

Remove cotton pack (if placed).

Have something cold such as Icecream or Juice or Milkshakes (to be taken without straw)

Start with the prescribed medications.
For the first 24 hours after the Teeth Extraction Procedure:

Apply ice pack from outside for 10 minutes in every 2 hours. Continue this only for first 24 hours after surgery

Avoid smoking.

Diet should contain of SOFT, COLD & BLAND food.

Avoid HOT, HARD & SPICY food.

Avoid BRUSHING, RINSING AND SPITTING as it may increase bleeding and pain.
After 24 hours of the Teeth Extraction Procedure:

You can start with your regular diet (including hot fluids)

You can start brushing but avoid the area of surgery for atleast 7 days or as instructed by your doctor.

Mix half teaspoon of salt in half glass of lukewarm water and rinse your mouth with it. Repeat the step for 5-6 times daily for at least 7 days. You can schedule it post brushing and meals. This accelerates the healing by keeping the surgical site clean.
